asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the total amount of excise duty collected during the years ended 31st March, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950 and 1951 on (a) beer, (b) whiskey and (c) tobacco.

Following is the statement:—
The revenue derived from the excise duty on whiskey is not separately recorded but is included under the heading home-made spirits. The receipts under the latter head and the receipts from the excise duty on beer and tobacco for the financial years 1946-47 to 1950-51 were as follows:—
