41.

asked the Minister for Local Government the total number of private dwellings rated in (a) Dublin Corporation area, (b) Dublin County Council area and (c) Dún Laoghaire Borough area.

On the basis of the 1966 Census of Population and the net increase in the housing stock since then, it is estimated that at 31st March last the numbers of dwellings, other than local authority dwellings, in the areas referred to were 97,000, 45,000 and 11,000 respectively. All of these dwellings are subject to rates.

42.

asked the Minister for Local Government the estimated total amount of rates collected from private and local authority houses during 1969-70 in (a) the Twenty-six Counties, (b) Dublin Council area, (c) Dublin Corporation area and (d) Dún Laoghaire Borough area.

Particulars of the amount of rates collected in respect of houses other than local authority houses are not available in my Department. The estimated total amount collected in rates from local authority tenants in 1969-70 was £3.462 million; the amounts collected from local authority tenants by Dublin County Council, Dublin Corporation and Dún Laoghaire Corporation were £32,719; £1,749,358 and £92,410 respectively.
