Under Regulation 355/77/EEC on the marketing and processing of agricultural products, applications for aid in respect of projects aimed at improving structural efficiency in this area are considered by the EEC Commission. A modernisation project for the Dublin fruit and vegetable market could be considered under this regulation.
The EEC aid is subject to a maximum of 25 per cent of eligible costs and the selection of projects from the limited funds available is a matter solely for the Commission. In 1979 out of a total of 106 Irish applications 19 were accepted by the Commission.
