The figures for 1978 and 1979 are partly estimated because figures were not kept by the Department on a monthly basis prior to 1980.
The total number of redundancies notified in the first five months of 1980 has shown an increase on the corresponding period in 1979, is slightly higher than the 1978 figure but lower than in 1975, 1976 and 1977.
