asked the Minister for the Environment the total financial allocation for housing loans in County Roscommon in each of the years 1977, 1978, 1979 and the proposed total allocation for 1980; the number of loans for (i) reconstruction, (ii) purchase and (iii) new houses; and if, in view of the position, he will advance a further allocation to Roscommon County Council to allow them to clear all loans allocated.
Written Answers. - County Roscommon Housing Loans
Separate allocations are not made to provide for payment for local authority house purchase loans. The provision for such loans forms part of a combined allocation which provides also for requirements arising in respect of low rise mortgage and improvement loans and supplementary grants.
Following are details of the allocation to Roscommon County Council since 1977 and the numbers of final instalments or full loans which were paid annually since 1977. Details of the number of reconstruction loans paid are not available in my Department.

An initial capital allocation of £850,000 was made to Roscommon County Council in respect of the six-month period ended 30 June 1980. The demands of each local authority operating these schemes are being kept under constant review and in order to ensure fair allocation of all available resources the requirements of each authority in respect of the second half of the year are being assessed monthly. In the period 1 January to 30 June Roscommon County Council drew £1.130 million. On the basis of the monthly assessment instalments totalling £683,000 have issued from the Local Loans Fund in the period from July to 7 November. A further instalment of £115,000 will be made available later this month and a similar amount will be made available in December.
