asked the Minister for Justice the action he proposes to take regarding the problem of cider drinking on the banks of the Royal and other canals in the Dublin area, which causes a grave nuisance to people in the surrounding area.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that 103 persons have been arrested and charged with drunkenness in the Phibsboro area so far this year.

They have informed me that they give constant attention to problems of drunkenness in the parks and on the canal banks and that the matter will continue to receive as much attention as possible.
