The person concerned has complained to my Department that she was not paid her full entitlement under the Holidays (Employees) Act, 1973, by her former employer. The matter is now under investigation by the Department.
With a view to establishing the amount of outstanding entitlement, if any, due in this case, the employer's wage records will be inspected in the near future by an officer of my Department and, if necessary, the question of payment will be taken up with the employer. If this does not achieve a satisfactory solution, the possibility of initiating proceedings against the employer, under the terms of the Holidays (Employees) Act, 1973, will be considered.
