Vol. 395 No. 4

Written Answers. - Storm Damage.

Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

119 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for the Environment the funds he intends to make available to compensate individuals who suffered damage to their property in coastal areas, near rivers, or generally, following the storm on 16 and 17 December 1989; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There are no funds available to me to compensate for any damage to private properties caused by the storm. However, in necessitous cases, it is open to the health board to provide assistance to elderly householders under the Task Force on Special Housing Aid for the Elderly to remedy damage to the householders living conditions.
