403 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for the Marine the level of funding given in 1995 and 1996 to local authorities from his Department for the purposes of pier maintenance and repair; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12714/97]
As indicated in previous replies, the relevant local authorities have responsibility for the maintenance and repair of local authority piers and harbours. The Department provides grant aid to local authorities to undertake capital development and renewal works but not for maintenance and repair.
