317 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Education and Science the consideration, if any, he has given to an application for the upgrading of a building at a school (details supplied) in County Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3965/00]
An application for an extension at this school was received in October 1999 and is under consideration at present. It will be dealt with as quickly as possible.
My Department allocates a second deputy principal, on an ex-quota basis, to second level schools in the free education scheme with enrolments of 1,000 or more pupils or to designated disadvantaged schools with enrolments of 900 or more pupils. As the school in question does not satisfy these requirements, it does not qualify for the allocation of a second deputy principal post in the current school year. The position will be reviewed for the 2000-01 school year.
