Vol. 526 No. 4

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Noel Ahern

Ceist:

251 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Finance when announcements will be made in regard to the Government's decentralisation programme; if the move from Phoenix Park of the Ordnance Survey is part of the overall programme or if a decision and date on movement is necessarily tied into the overall programme; if the interim board is examining the move; and if a location has been settled on. [27031/00]

My Department has been working on aspects of a new programme for decentralisation for some time and I expect that the Cabinet sub-committee on decentralisation will very shortly begin its consideration of the various issues with a view to presenting proposals for a new programme of decentralisation to the Government as soon as possible. Among the issues to be considered as part of the Government's deliberations will be that relating to the future location of the headquarters of Ordnance Survey Ireland. Until such time as decisions have been taken by the Government in relation to the new programme it would be premature of me to comment on specific aspects which have not yet been determined.
