Vol. 541 No. 2
194 Mr. Allen asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of non-EU work visas allocated to nurses under the work visa programme; and the number who took up employment here. [22065/01]
In the period June 2000 to the end of July 2001 a total of 1,716 working visas were issued for nurses. In addition, in the same period 103 work authorisations for nurses were issued to nationals of non-EEA countries who do not require visas to come to Ireland. My Department has no information on the numbers of nurses who have actually taken up employment in Ireland on the basis of the work authorisations/working visas granted to them.
195 Mr. Durkan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment when a work permit will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [22466/01]
I am informed by the work permits section of my Department that it does not have any record of receiving an application on behalf of the individual concerned at the stated address.
