Ceisteanna (100)

Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

157 Deputy Brian O’Shea asked the Minister for Transport if he has decided to alter the blood alcohol limit for drivers; if he is satisfied with the measures in place to address drink driving on Irish roads in view of recent reports that approximately 32,000 motorists who were initially charged with drink driving over the past five years were subsequently not processed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Government recently gave its approval to the drafting of a Road Traffic and Transport Bill, which inter alia deals with the legal Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) level for drivers. The processing of prosecutions for intoxicated driving offences is a matter for my colleague the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform.
