298 Deputy Brian Hayes asked the Minister for Transport the progress that has been reached on the north-west gateway initiative, as set out in Building Ireland’s Smart Economy — A Framework for Sustainable Economic Renewal 2009-2014, and if it is within the agreed budget. [17630/09]
Amharc ar fhreagraAs Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for overall policy and funding in relation to the national roads programme element of Transport 21. The construction, improvement and maintenance of individual national roads including the roads element of the North West Gateway Initiative, is a matter for the National Roads Authority under the Roads Act 1993 in conjunction with the local authorities concerned. My colleague, the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, has overall responsibility for the North West Gateway Initiative.
