Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin
Ceist:180 Deputy Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin asked the Minister for Health and Children further to Parliamentary Question No. 155 of 5 October 2010 concerning the denial of social assistance to migrant women facing domestic abuse and the Health Service Executive’s reply, which indicated that repatriation would be an option, if she will guarantee that repatriation is only considered an option where it is the clear and expressed wish of the woman in question, that no subtle or direct pressure is applied on women to take this option rather than being given assistance, and that no woman suffering domestic abuse will ever be placed in the position of having to be repatriated because assistance has been denied for failure to meet the habitual residence condition.
