Ceist:

576 Deputy Gerry Adams asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government if he has given any consideration to reducing the voting age from 18 to 16 years for all elections and referenda; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1333/12]

I have no proposals to reduce the voting age to 16. The Programme for Government sets out a comprehensive range of constitutional reform measures including the review by a Constitutional Convention of reducing the voting age to 17. I will bring forward proposals for change to electoral law in light of the decisions for change which may arise from these processes.
