David Cullinane

Ceist:

209. Deputy David Cullinane asked the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage if his Department or an agency under his remit recognises a difference between honours bachelor of arts degrees and higher diplomas for recruitment purposes to local authorities despite their similar national framework of qualifications level; and if he will make a statement on the matter. In line with statutory provisions, my Department declares qualifications of such classes and descriptions for specified employment under a local authority or for such of the employments as belong to a specified class, description or grade.

An Honours degree, Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications, is set as the standard requirement for candidates to be deemed eligible to compete for certain posts in the local authority sector.
