My Department’s role in relation to homelessness involves the provision of a national framework of policy, legislation and funding to underpin the role of housing authorities in addressing homelessness at local level. While responsibility for the provision of accommodation for homeless persons rests with individual housing authorities, the administration of homeless services is organised on a regional basis.
My Department publishes a detailed quarterly performance report on homelessness, based on data provided by regional lead housing authorities. The report includes details of individuals exiting State-funded emergency accommodation arrangements that are overseen by housing authorities and is provided on a regional basis. In respect of the information sought by the Deputy, and based on the most recent quaterly report to the end of September 2021, details in relation to the numbers of adults who exited homelessness into an independent tenancy are set out in the table below.
