Deputy Fergus O'Dowd asked the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media if she will respond to correspondence received (details supplied) in relation to the Online Safety and Media Regulation Bill 2021 recruitment process; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraThe establishment of the Media Commission is a priority for my Department, with €5.5 million in funding allocated in Budget 2022 for its establishment on an administrative basis.
Preparatory work for the Media Commission recruitment process has now commenced in conjunction with the Public Appointments Service and positions, as they arise, will be advertised in due course.
Recruitment for the Media Commission will be run on an open, competitive basis.
