Andrew Doyle TD Elected Chair of Communications, Natural Resources and Agriculture Committee

John O’Mahony TD elected Vice-Chair

Andrew Doyle TD for Wicklow has today been elected as Chairman to the newly formed Joint Oireachtas Committee on Communications, Natural Resources and Agriculture.

John O’Mahony TD for Mayo was elected to the Vice-Chair position.

This Committee will shadow the activities of the Departments of
Communications, Energy and Natural Resources
Agriculture, Marine and Food

Speaking after his election, Deputy Doyle said;
“My Committee colleagues and I face a significant challenge. This new Committee has an extremely wide brief covering several matters of national importance. I am grateful to the Committee for having the confidence in me to elect me to this post.

I intend to take a collaborative approach to the Committee’s work programme and work with Members from all sides to ensure that this Committee conducts its business in an effective and positive fashion. I feel that by doing so, we can have a significant impact on policy and make a real contribution to the areas under our remit.”

Committee Vice-Chair, John O’Mahony TD said;
“This Committee has responsibility for some of the most pressing areas of policy affecting the country today. I am looking forward to the task of helping to shape and influence the agenda as well as scrutinising some of the most important activities in this sector.”

The Committee will hold a meeting shortly to identify its work programme and priorities.
