Joint Committee on Public Petitions and the Ombudsmen to meet with Defence Forces Ombudsman

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions and the Ombudsmen will meet tomorrow, Thursday, 29 June, to discuss the 2021 Annual Report of the Ombudsman for the Defence Forces.

The meeting at 1.30pm in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House will hear from the Ombudsman for the Defence Forces, Mr Justice Alan Mahon.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Martin Browne said: “This is the latest in our series of meetings with Ombudsmen and the Committee welcomes this opportunity to meet with Mr Justice Mahon to discuss the 2021 Defence Forces Ombudsman report and related matters.

“We will then examine a range of petitions submitted by the members of the public, including petitions to ‘Stop legal netting of Atlantic salmon in Castlemaine harbour’ and seeking to allow ‘Larger dogs on trains’.”

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions and the Ombudsmen is a standing Committee of the Houses of the Oireachtas and has 11 Members, seven from the Dáil and four from the Seanad.

The meeting in the Committee Room 4 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.
