Joint Committee on Transport and Communications to meet for discussion with Mr Peter Strachan on his appointment as Chairperson Designate of the National Transport Authority (NTA)

The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications will meet this afternoon, Wednesday, 6th December to discuss the appointment of Mr Peter Strachan as Chairperson Designate of the National Transport Authority (NTA) at 1:30pm in Committee Room 2 of Leinster House. 

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Leas-Chathaoirleach Senator Gerry Horkan said: “The National Transport Authority is tasked with connecting Ireland’s people and places by providing sustainable transport infrastructure and services and is the national body for public transport and taxi regulation.

“Our Committee looks forward to this initial engagement with Mr. Strachan and to future meetings with the NTA in order to continue our well-established relationship in analysing and dealing with transport issues. We will take this opportunity to discuss with Mr Strachan the plans and strategies that he intends to bring to the position and we will welcome his perspectives on the challenges that he faces in his role.”

The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
