Vol. 134 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Road Repair.

Mr. Flynn

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that a grant is required for the repair of the road leading to Gurrane Quay, County Kerry (Ventry estate), which will facilitate fishermen in the haulage of shell fish (mussels) from Gurrane Quay to the mussel plant at Cromane; and, if so, if he will make a special employment schemes grant available for the work.

An application was received in 1948 for the repair of a road leading north from a point near Michael Grady's house at Gurrane East to the pier; and I assume that this is the road in question.

On investigation, the road was found to be in charge of the Kerry County Council for maintenance and the applicant was so informed. Representations regarding its repair should, therefore, be addressed to the county manager.
