asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs when the Government propose to recognise officially the new government in Portugal.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Portuguese Government Recognition.
18.
The practice of the Irish Government is to make formal declarations of recognition of states and not of the regimes that govern them. Consequently we have made no formal declaration of recognition of the new government in Portugal. We have, however, informed the new government in that country that we will continue normal diplomatic relations with them.
