Vol. 321 No. 6

Written Answers. - Unemployment Benefit Claim.

355.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason a claim for unemployment benefit was refused to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.

The reason that the person concerned could not be paid unemployment benefit at the date of his claim was that he did not satisfy the statutory contribution conditions on his Irish insurance record and details of his insurance record in Britain had to be obtained from the British authorities. This information was only very recently received. As soon as it came to hand his entitlement to unemployment benefit was established and payment of all arrears due was made to him on the 6 May 1980. Payment is continuing on a weekly basis.
