asked the Minister for the Environment the progress, if any, made to-date in improving the water supply to the residents in the north east area of Cork city; and when work will commence.

: The following are the proposals for the improvement of the water supply to the north east area of the city submitted by Cork Corporation:

(1) Improvement works at Lee Road Waterworks comprising new pumps and electrical supply;

(2) New rising main from Lee Road to Churchfield Reservoir;

(3) The construction of a service main in two stages from Churchfield Reservoir via Audley Place to Mayfield.

Works (1) and (2) have been approved and are under construction. As regards the third proposal, the corporation are understood to be formulating a revision thereto for submission to my Department in the near future.
