233 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if his Department will expedite payment of headage and premium to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim who states that his area aid is now in order. [26987/00]

The person named applied for grants on 22 cows and two heifers under the 2000 suckler cow premium scheme and on 22 cows and 15 other animals under the 2000 cattle headage scheme on 31 May 2000.

Under the regulations the number of grants payable under the suckler cow premium scheme is determined by the number of quota rights held by the applicant for the year in question The person named has therefore established an entitlement to premium on 20.2 suckler cows.

There were a number of problems with parcels of land on the 2000 area aid application of the person named. The relevant maps for the land parcels have been sent to him in order to resolve the matter. When the maps are returned to the Department, the land parcels will be re-digitised and validated. Provided everything is in order his entitlements under the 2000 suckler cow premium and cattle headage schemes will then issue as soon as possible.

The person named has been paid in full for the first and second instalments of the 2000 ewe premium on 23 June and 23 October last respectively.

The position in regard to his 2000 sheep headage scheme grant is that his 2000 area aid application was randomly selected for inspection in accordance with EU regulations. Following the return of the inspection results the plots of land on the application are currently being entered on to the Department's electronic database and sheep headage payments due will issue in the near future.
