Jobs Committee to commence scrutiny of the Banded Hours Contract Bill 2016 (PMB)

30 Ean 2017, 12:17

The Joint Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 31 January at 4pm in Committee Room 4, Leinster House.

30 January 2017

Agenda:

Banded Hours Contract Bill 2016 [PMB].

Session A: David Cullinane T.D.
Session B: Representatives from Ibec, ISME, and Chambers Ireland.

Committee Chair, Mary Butler TD, said, “Tomorrow our Committee will scrutinise a Private Members Bill under new rules agreed under Dáil Reform. The Bill, proposed by Deputy David Cullinane, aims to strengthen the rights of employees to a more stable working environment by providing for banded hour contracts and a corresponding obligation on an employer to consider such a request from an employee. Our meeting tomorrow will provide the Committee with a valuable opportunity to engage directly with business groups to scrutinise this piece of proposed legislation.”

Committee proceedings can be followed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
