Vol. 248 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Creamery Rationalisation.

19.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries when he expects to have the report from the social study group set up in connection with the rationalisation of creameries.

The group to which the Deputy refers was established for the purpose of advising the Minister, from the economic and social aspects, on specific proposals for creamery reorganisation where some of the interests involved have cogent reasons for objecting to the proposals. So far it has not been necessary to refer any specific proposals to the group.

When does the Minister expect to have the report?

I do not think the group is expected to make a report. It was established for the purpose of referring specific problems to it. As the reply stated, it has not yet been found necessary to do this.

Will this be the final report on the rationalisation of the creamery structure?

I would not think so at all. I think the rationalisation of the creamery structure has a long way to go yet.
