asked the Minister for Education when the extension to Carn national school, Ballina, County Mayo, will be provided, and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Commissioners of Public Works originally recommended to my Department that Carn national school should be replaced by a new school on a new site.

The question of an extension to the existing premises in lieu of the provision of a new building is, however, now being considered and the Commissioners of Public Works are arranging to discuss this proposal further with the school authorities.

20.

A grant has been sanctioned toward the cost of the proposed new primary school at Ballintubber, Claremorris, County Mayo. It is not possible at this stage to say when building work may commence.
