andMr. White asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the reason he stated in reply to parliamentary Question No. 12 on 10 June, 1980 that there was a delay in auditing the annual report of An Bord Iascaigh Mhara when the report shows that the auditor signed it on 31 December 1979.

In my reply I stated that there were unavoidable delays in the preparation and auditing of the accounts of An Bord Iascaigh Mhara for 1978. That statement was correct as the accounts had not been prepared and audited until 31st December, 1979. Following the signing of the auditors report the accounts had to be cleared with my Department and the Department of Finance before the report and accounts could be sent for printing.

andMr. White asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the total amount of money advanced by the banks to fishermen for the purchase of boats for each year 1970 to 1979, inclusive; and the amounts guaranteed by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara to the banks for the same period.

The total amount of money advanced by banks to fishermen for the purchase of boats is not known to An Bord Iascaigh Mhara. The only loans of which the board becomes aware are those which are guaranteed by the Board. Details of such loans for the period 1970 to 1979 are as follows:

The cumulative total losses of the boatyards operated by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara at 31 December 1978 amounted to £1,555,730. The corresponding figure at 31 December 1979 is not yet available.

andMr. White asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the total amount of money advanced by the State to the boatyards operated by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara at 31 December 1978 and 1979.

The total amount of money advanced by way of loans for the boatyards operated by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara at 31 December 1978 and 1979 was £469,332 and £474,891 respectively.

andMr. White asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the value of each boatyard in Killybegs, County Donegal, Dingle, County Kerry, and Baltimore, County Cork, as shown in the books of An Bord Iascaigh Mhara at the date of the sale of the boatyards.

The net book value of each of the boatyards is shown in the books of An Bord Iascigh Mhara at the date of sale was as follows: Baltimore, £130,270; Dingle, £24,445; Killybegs, £122,876.

andMr. White asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the total amount of money realised from the sale of boatyards operated by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara.

The total amount of money realised from the sale of the boatyards operated by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara at Baltimore, Dingle, and Killybegs amounted to £1,334,246.

andMr. White asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the total amount of money due, if any, as a result of the sale of the boatyards operated by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara to purchasers.

Part of the consideration governing the sale of the boatyards was in the form of loan finance of which the sum of £519,000 remains outstanding. The loans are secured by a mortgage debenture on the leasehold interest in the premises and a general charge exists in favour of the board over all the assets of the companies which purchased the boatyards.

The amount due to the State for advances given to An Bord Iascaigh Mhara for the boatyards operated by them at 31 December 1978 and 1979 was £387,203 and £382,686 respectively.

The amount of money guaranteed by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara to banks for the purchase of fishing vessels at 31 December 1978 was £4,448,208. The corresponding figure at 31 December 1979 is not yet available.
