Vol. 322 No. 11

Written Answers. - Glencree (Wicklow) Society.

106.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the valuable service provided by the Glencree Society, County Wicklow, to young people from all parts of the city and county of Dublin; and the action he intends taking to give financial support to this organisation to ensure its survival.

I am aware of the service being provided by the Glencree Society.

I should explain, however, that the society would not qualify for direct assistance under my Department's youth service grant scheme. Under this scheme grants are made available to governing bodies of youth organisations to provide services to their affiliated clubs and members. The Glencree Society would not qualify for assistance on that basis.
