Written Answers. - PRISON DIETARY

Breakfast
1 pint tea, 2½oz. sugar, 6 oz. bread,
1 oz. butter, 1 oz. marmalade, ½ pint milk, 1 bowl cornflakes.
Lunch
Sunday—1 pint soup. 8 oz. roast mutton or corned beef and white sauce, 20 oz. roast and boiled potatoes, 8 oz. cabbage, 2 oz. bread, 1 tub of icecream Monday—Irish stew consisting of 8 oz. mutton, 20 oz. potatoes, 4 oz. onions, 4 oz. carrots or parsnips. ¾ oz. flour, 2 oz. bread, rice pudding.
Tuesday—8 oz. roast beef, 20 oz. roast and boiled potatoes, 4 oz. peas, 2 oz. bread, bisto gravy, rhubarb or apples and custard,
Wednesday—1 pint soup, 8 oz. chicken, 20 oz. chips, 8 oz. turnips or parsnips, 2 oz. bread, prunes and custard.
Thursday—1 pint soup, 8 oz. roast mutton, 20 oz. roast and boiled potatoes, 8 oz. cabbage, 2 oz. bread, bisto gravy, sweet tapioca or alternative.
Friday—8 oz. fish, 20 oz. chips, 4 oz. carrots, 4 oz. parsnips, or 8 oz. brussels-sprouts, 2 oz. bread, white sauce, sweet bread pudding and custard.
Saturday—8 oz. bacon or corned beef, 20 oz. roast and boiled potatoes, 8 oz. cabbage, 2 oz. bread, rice pudding.
(A ½ pint of milk to be included in each day's meal plus an orange, apple or tomatoes).
Seasonal and local circumstances may necessitate the substitution of alternatives to the particular vegetable listed. Nevertheless, the greatest possible variety of vegetables should be included in the menu at all times.
Tea
1 pint of tea, ¾ oz. sugar, 6oz. bread,
1 oz. butter, 1 oz. jam, ½ pint milk
Egg boiled, scrambled or fried with toast, or 2 oz. cheese or cheese rarebit, or sausages with beans or black and white pudding.
Supper
1 pint tea, ¾ oz. sugar, 4 oz. bread, 1 oz, jam, ½ pint milk
Bun or brack (containing sufficient fruit) (approx. 2 oz. weight).
