Ceist:

815 Mr. Davern asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the current position and progress with regard to a replacement industry for Tipperary town following the recent visits by interested parties to the ex-Mass Mutual plant; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15633/96]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 814 and 815 together. The attraction of a replacement industry for Tipperary town is a matter for the day to day operation of the industrial development agencies. I have been informed by IDA Ireland that it has actively marketed the former Mass Mutual Plant on an ongoing basis and is currently in discussion with a number of potential overseas investors. IDA Ireland is also co-operating with the West Tipperary Enterprise Group in the production of a suitable promotional brochure and is hopeful that, with the present level of interest in the facility, and the assistance of the West Tipperary Enterprise Group and local authorities, a replacement industry for Tipperary town will be found. I assure the Deputy the IDA will continue to market the facility until a suitable project has been secured for the area.
